Building Bridges to the Cosmos ....
This cosmic watering hole for educators is hosted by the International Astronomical Union's
Office of Astronomy for Education (IAU/OAE) through its
U.S. National Astronomy Education Coordinator (NAEC) team.
Our mission is to inform, improve, and advance the teaching of astronomy in K-12 schools. The US-NAEC team is but one of 80+ international NAEC teams working to advance astronomy education worldwide. Together, we identify, assess, coordinate, and communicate astronomy curricula and other educational resources -- focusing on the K-14 grades.
The six US-NAEC team members were selected by the IAU's Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) because of their diverse academic backgrounds and teaching experiences across the K-12 grades. They are Caitlin Ahrens (Maryland), Christine Hirst Bernhardt (California),
David Lockett (Florida and D.C.),
Michelle Peterson (California and New York), William Waller (Massachusetts), and Denise Wright (South Carolina).
